Crocheting Octopussies

Got bored of making the flowers all the time and one day as I was starting yet another, I thought, what else can I do with this circle?  And so began my family of octopuses. Super easy to make though I think they need to be single crochet so the stuffing isn't showing.  I messed with the faces for a while, starting with button eyes yet settling on yarn.


They could be baby toys or tied onto string to make a cat go INSANE!  The long legs would be sure to cause a cat tons of excitement.  



In addition to gardening, I've made a point to walk the town every tuesday to get exercise and familiarize with the town.  I love small, locally owned shops and you see so much more by foot.  We walked the train tracks and talked to local historians along the way.  I've always found that the east coast is so rich in culture and really appreciate the historic landmarks.






At a local restaurant, above the daily special, was written:
Stop organized crime, don't re-elect politicians.  

My next venture will be in the making of Lebanese Iced Tea.  It was such a delicious treat at a recent trip to La Shish that I've been on the hunt for rose water for the last couple of days.  I have seen it in the stores so many times and of course now that I want to buy it, no one around me has it.  A trip to a persian grocery store is on my to-do list this week and so very soon....   The food at the restaurant was great but the waitress was was having a bad day and was sorta bitchy.  Luckily the food was good enough for a second try and so I haven't written them off just yet.

Lebanese Iced Tea

One of the most refreshing and surprising drinks is Lebanese Iced Tea. Nothing too fancy, Lebanese iced tea is composed of basic sweetened iced tea, and stirred together with the intriguing flavor of rosewater, just a splash. The heady aroma and floral flavor are exotic and refreshing. When done right, the taste is subtle and not too perfumey. Nile Café’s version hits the spot to perfection. Their iced tea has body, good hearty flavor that’s mildly sweet, a slight tang from lemon, the softest whiff of rose and a garnish of crunchy pine nuts for texture and a tasty, rich contrast.

Lebanese Iced Tea
6 ounces of freshly made iced tea sweetened to taste
1/2 teaspoon of rosewater
1 teaspoon raw pine nuts

Pour sweetened iced tea into a tall glass filled with ice.  Add the rosewater and stir to combine.  Sprinkle with pine nuts and serve.

Ours didn't have the nuts so I'm debating adding them.
